The Embera Chami is a tribe located in the pacific region of Colombia in areas as Chocó, and others in Colombia, also in Panamá. They are about 350.000 people (2020). The Emberas are best known for the beautifully coloured art crafts. Using techniques passed down for centuries from generation to generation, each necklace displays a unique design. The Emberas live around the rivers, their houses and crops are on the banks of the river, fishing is a permanent activity. This community was known by their continued resistance to spanish conquering incursions until the 17th century, when most of the people fled into the jungle.
